Lead Safe Wayne County

If you live in Wayne County, but not in the City of Detroit, you may be eligible to have lead hazards removed from your home through the Lead Safe Wayne County Lead Hazard Control Program.  Lead hazards damage your child’s brain, and a child can be poisoned by ingesting a tiny amount of dust.  There is a maximum income requirement, you must have a child under six or an expectant mother living in the home, and the residence must be built before 1978.  Lead hazard remediation often involves the replacement of old windows and doors, and the covering of exterior paint. This program is primarily grant funded, but certain fees may apply.
